Happy Birthday – Howard Muhly (Feb. 16)
Day of Prayer for South Sudan. Over 600,000 people have been displaced in the recent fighting. The current crisis reflects underlying tensions and mistrust among South Sudanese leaders and ethnic groups that date back to Sudan’s civil war (1983-2005), and before. We pray today for the struggling people in the newest nation in the world.
The ECW meets this week on Wednesday, February 19th at 2PM in the Parish House. Catherine will be presenting a program on how to be a friendly visitor, and we will share some Valentine treats.
National Cathedral, Washington presents a forum on Martin Luther King’s famous work “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”, Feb. 24, 7:30pm. In person or online at nationalcathedral.org.
Please mark your calendars for upcoming Lenten events at St Peter’s. On Wednesday, February 5, the Village Dinner will be followed by the Ash Wednesday service promptly at 7PM. And please welcome Frog and Toad to St Peter’s on the following Wednesdays, March 19th, March 26th, and April 2nd at 7PM in the Parish House. Frog and Toad have much to teach us about how to grow as Christians during Lent.
Online Lenten Course – From March 5–12. The Rev. Dr. David Lose, professor at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, will teach a free online course “Making Sense of the Cross”, a series that invites online learners to “listen in” on an open conversation about the cross.
