Happy Birthday – Millie Muhly (Feb. 7)
The Souperbowl is TODAY to combat hunger in our region. You can contribute monies for food in the regular offering ( with “Souperbowl” in the memo line) or in the bucket that the youth will be holding outside the church at the end of the service. Place your food contributions on the back pew. The monies we collect will be distributed to Glory Outreach for Caroline County. Food will go to the Caroline Co. Dept of Social Services food pantry.
Candlemas The Presentation of our Lord commemorates the day when Mary and Joseph brought the infant Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem where he was greeted by Simeon and Anna. By the Law every first born male was to be “consecrated to the Lord” forty days after his birth. Candles are blessed on this day (hence the name “Candlemas”).
Ladies Night Out, Feb. 15, 2014, 6pm. Please let Bill Wick or Fred Pannell know if you are planning to attend and what food you are bringing. You will also need to bring a bottle of wine and the necessary serving pieces as well. Donation is $50 a couple. The evening’s entertainment this year will be Jeopardy with the men competing against the women.
Youth Group The youth are working on the God and Family scouting badge. The group meets every Wednesday at 4:45PM, with the exception of the first Wednesday in each month. Youth in grades 1 through high school are welcome to attend.
The Bishop will be with us in March. If God is calling you to be baptized, confirmed, or to rededicate yourself to God’s work, let Catherine know of your interest.

Presentation of Jesus in the Temple Feb. 2, 2014
“Presentation of Jesus in the Temple”– Rembrandt 1631
“Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. Guided by the Spirit, Simeon came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him what was customary under the law, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God.” Luke 2:25-28
