Curry preached a widely acclaimed sermon at the last General Convention -“We Need Some Crazy Christians.” It became a book and now it will be expanded into a class. Read about it here – http://churchsp.org/crazychristianclass and register.
Bring a candle next Sunday to be blessed at Candlemas! Along with the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, we will celebrate Candlemas. As early as the fourth century, it was the day of the year when all the candles, that were used in the church during the coming year, were brought into church and a blessing was said over them – so it was the Festival Day (or ‘mass’) of the Candles. Candles symbolize the light of Christ to relieve our darkness .
Spread the word! The Souperbowl is coming again next Sunday, Feb . 2, 2014 to combat hunger in our region. The money we collect will be distributed to Glory Outreach to help the hungry in Caroline County. We will also be collecting canned food for the Caroline County Dept of Social Services food pantry.
Ladies Night Out, Feb. 15, 2014, 6pm. Please let Bill Wick or Fred Pannell know if you are planning to attend and what food you are bringing. You will also need to bring a bottle of wine and the necessary serving pieces as well. Donation is $50 a couple. The entertainment is a game of Jeopardy!
