Village Harvest Luncheon, July 13, 2016 1:30pm

We invited a group from the Village Harvest food distribution to meet with parishioners for overall fellowship as well as to see their needs in relationship to the existing Village Harvest program which has been ongoing since Nov. 2014. How well is it going ?  Any changes ? We had 11 from the food distribution and 9 from St. Peter’s.

Over plates of barbecued chicken, macaroni and cheese and green beans, people who come to the Village Harvest food distribution each month and members of St Peter’s talked about all sorts of things, including cooking tips, favorite recipes, and discussed various ideas about how the new kitchen at St Peter’s can be used to serve the community. For dessert, people enjoyed tiramisu cake and cookies from the Blue Bar Bakery in Port Royal, along with watermelon, strawberries and blueberries.

A second Village Harvest luncheon will be held on the last Wednesday in July for those who couldn’t come to the first lunch. After the second lunch, St Peter’s parishioners who attended will share various ideas regarding the how the Village Harvest should grow and /or change based on input from those who come to the distribution, and also ideas regarding use of the new kitchen on behalf of the Port Royal community.
