Village Harvest, Nov. 17, a beautiful 7th anniversary

We celebrated 97 clients on Nov 17, 2021, our 7th anniversary. This was the 3rd highest number for 2021 and over 82 our 2021 average. Thanks to those to who came and who volunteered to support. Cookie and Johnny Davis pick up the foods from the Healthy Harvest Food Bank and volunteers come in early Wednesday to organize and then another group distributed the food between 3pm and 5pm. It’s a group effort even after 7 years.

Those who came early got their choice of foods. We had enough for late comers but those people were treated to a wonderful fall sunset over the river. The colors and light were rich.

We distributed 940 pounds. For this month we had avocado, zucchini , squash, garlic, lettuce, lemons, cereal, varieties of bread, soup, mandarin, peas and carrots, can goods, and chicken.

Except for Sept it was under the 1,000+ pounds from May, 2021 on. People still received on average 9.7 pounds each worth $58. That’s under 2018 and 2019 but above the 8 pounds or less from earlier years

We are hoping for support on Nov. 30, Giving Tuesday where the funds collected go to the Village Harvest.
