Village Harvest afternoon, April 21, 2021

April, 2021’s Village Harvest was the smallest number of people since August, 2019. With 71 people and 838 pounds food, that was just under 12 pounds per person and a dollar value at $70. The pounds of food were the lowest February, 2020. We did have some unique items, like seeds to distribute.

There is some speculation that the reduced numbers relate to the increased Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) assistance of $1 billion plus the pandemic checks going out to people.

We focus here on the environment surrounding the event – the lovely spring day with a gentle wind. The video shows our pavilion against the river panning to lilies (from an Easter) planted at the base of the magnolia tree with chimes echoing their song. The photos show the new leaves of the great sycamore tree shining against the sun. It is a wonderful spiritual place.
