Village Harvest, July 17, 2019 – It’s summertime!

The Village Harvest of July 17, 2019 was shorter on people and longer on supplies than earlier months.  We served 101 the second lowest of the year but with the 4th largest supply. More for those who showed up and braved the heat! There was just over 14 pounds for each person with a variety of produce, grocery items, meat and drinks. This is the highest supply in July in 4 years. The value per shopper based on supply was over $85 exceeding $75 average for 2019.

Although the numbers were lower, year to date numbers served 824 is the second largest in 4 years (2016-2019). YTD pounds distributed $9,881 is actually the highest YTD in the four years. The pounds per person is at 12 is the second largest in 4 year The value we have given to our clients at $75 is also the second largest in 4 years exceed only by last year at $84.

We thank Johnny and Cookie Davis for bringing our supply from the Healthy Harvest Food Bank, an hour away and Andrea for keeping statistics. Both of them contributed pictures to the collage.

Congratulations to Healthy Harvest for recently winning a $40,000 grant! Although we are out of their market area they continue to help us monthly. Their grant will be used to support a walk-in freezer and cooler used to store and then distribute fresh foods to 28 pantries and meal preparation sites in six counties: Essex, Lancaster, Middlesex, Northumberland, Richmond and Westmoreland, including Colonial Beach.
