Moving into Service, May 22

Gerald & TierraGerald served as an acolyte and Tierra as the Gospel-Bearer, both for the first time today. Gerald was in the Feb acolyte class and Tierra was baptized at the Easter Vigil. Both did well.

The words of the service were about building – foundations, cornerstones, places to dwell leading up the Gospel  of John 14:1-14 – "Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going… How can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life.’

St. Peter’s over the last 175 years has been enriched by people such as Gerald and Tierra to strengthen our spiritual home. God offers Jesus to us as the cornerstone of our individual spiritual houses, and also the cornerstone of the church. The key in building that house is understanding mercy – "And we pray that having received God’s mercy, we will become living stones, people who can have mercy and compassion toward one another." The complete sermon is here , the bulletin and the readings.
