Christmas Play, Dec. 23, 2012

A St. Peter’s tradition – a Christmas play that involves not only children but much of the congregation. This tradition began in the 1990’s under the Rev. Karen Woodfuff. when there were many children in the parish. Here is a picture from 1999. (We have pictures back to 1998).  Note the smallest girl on the front row next to Mary.

Fast forward to this year 13 years later and she is playing the Angel Gabriel.

This year’s play was written by Catherine and was called the "Angel Gabriel." The focus was on the angels story but, of course, we need the shepherds, Mary, Joseph, the Wise Men. We had a cast of 20 for the play with some great music – "O Come Emmanuel", "Shepherds While They Watched Their Flocks", "First Nowell".  We had 53 today on a brilliant sunshine day.  Yes, we had a another actual baby playing Jesus – a girl born a few months ago to Kelly and Ben. We are already looking for next year’s Jesus.

Here is a gallery of the play  and the text.

The bulletin is here with the cast. The bulletin has the reason why we have an annual Christmas tree – so people could see the nativity with their own eyes.
