Maturing in Service.. Morning Prayer March 27

Susan Goff was the guest preacher as Catherine and Ben visited her mother on her 83rd birthday on a welcome Sunday off. Thanks to Terri Harrison for taking these wonderful pictures.

Liz Heimbach and Susan Goff

Have you ever seen a more enthusiastic, joyful crucifer ?  There was Liz Heimbach first service as acolyte – she was in the recent class on acolyting – and from all reports she did a wonderful job. It was a big step -thanks ! Likewise it was good to have a picture of the choir "at ease"

The Choir is constantly improving and introducing new hymns and music to the congregation. The best is yet to come!

The Gospel of Luke was written to Antioch in the mid 80’sAD as the communities of Christians were formally cast out from Judaism and at the same time Rome began a more active oppressor. They faced the question, "how do we mature in service?" Luke filled his gospel with stories of compassion and service to an extent not found in any other gospel. His narrative reiterated, over and over, that the only proper course for Christians was to "be" the change they desired.  It is this service to our community that was certainly evident at St. Peter’s today.
