ECM at Hornes 11-12-2011

 ECM 11-12-2011

ECM met today at Hornes for breakfast with 11 men present. Jim Heimbach updated us on his participation in a Fredericksburg City schools breakfast program to build relationships with students. He has brought this to the attention to Caroline school officials and seemed to be impressed on the progress of the program – many gains for little cost.

David Beck asked us to provide suggestions for future activities. As we approach the Christmas season, there are some real opportunities. Fred could possibly provide some names of famlies to assist through Caroline Social Servies. We will be open to opportunities at the December meeting. We also planned to help at today’s community dinner in the setting up and clean up.

Ben Hicks provided the program based on the book Falling Upward by Richard Rohr about the concept of two different stages of life – the first to build your container, your identity in the first half of life and then "falling upward" to the second half of life where we learn to add to the container which is our True Self – our soul, our true self in God. We find God in ourselves, eliminating both our false and shadow selves that obscure us. The notes from the book are here
