7th Community Dinner, March 30, 2013

We had our 7th Community Dinner on the Saturday before Easter. As with Christmas we partnered with Parks and Rec and Caroline’s Promise. Parks and Rec provided the publicity and decorations. Caroline’s Promise the easter baskets and crafts. St. Peter’s donated 880 plastic eggs plus 43 bags/boxes of candy, individually wrapped.  We served hotdogs, raw vegetables fruit, and cookies as the meal.

A photo gallery is here.

We had slightly lower numbers than Christmas and estimates ranged from 80-120. Everyone agree partnering is the right way to go.

Barbara and Boyd Wisdom deserve credit for the organization of the dinner and for leading the Evening ECW to continue with the community dinners.  There were 3 separate Easter egg hunts (up to 5 years, 5 to 9 and over 9). All the eggs were plastic. Children would find the eggs. They would then unpack them in exchange for candy and gifts.

A big hit was an appearance by the Easter bunny.  Everyone loves to hug this bunny!

Becky and Kimberly added face painting and Nancy led the crafts table. Tucker helped with the hotdogs. Catherine and Andrea also put the finishing touches on the lunch – hot dogs, pretzels, cheese, vegetables, lemonade, oatmeal and chocolate cookies.

After the hunts, 7 Easter basket winners were chosen.
