Announcements

Welcome to St. Peter’s! May God’s love be present with you in this place. The communion bread is gluten free. All who seek a closer relationship with God are welcome at God’s table.

Happy Birthday – Joe Betchy (Jan. 25), Tyler Collins (Jan. 26).

Annual Council of the Diocese of Virginia was cancelled until March 5 at the Church of the Epiphany.  Resources for the meeting are online at a link at the Diocesan website – thediocese.net.

A Lenten book group will meet on the Wednesdays of Lent, beginning on Wednesday, February 17th. The book the group will be reading is Abraham: A Journey through Lent, by Meg Warner. The book is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Order the book yourself, or let Catherine know that you will need a copy of the book.

Two Sundays from now – Feb. 7 – Souper Bowl collection for tackling hunger and poverty . It began over 25 years ago with a simple prayer : “Lord as we enjoy the Super Bowl, help us to be mindful of those without a bowl of soup to eat.” We will collect money for our own monthly food distribution. For our February Village Harvest distribution, we’re collecting ingredients for chili, so please bring cans of kidney beans, or other type of beans, (you can also bring dried beans) and cans of tomatoes—diced or crushed.

Grow your spiritual life during Lent, Feb 10! The Brothers of St. John the Evangelist are presenting "Grow the Rule of Life" during Lent. This series focuses on "God as the Chief Gardener of our souls, and we seek out ways to grow into the fullness he desires. Just as stakes and lattices nurture the growth of young plants, so too can spiritual disciplines support the flourishing of our whole being." Sign up here http://ssje.org/ssje/growrule/ to have daily email messages come to your inbox.

Looking ahead : Bishop Gulick will be at St Peter’s on Sunday, February 14th, and the service that day will take place at 2PM. Please let Catherine know if you would like to be baptized, confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church.
