The Feast of the Epiphany,  Year B

Evening Prayer

Officiant: Elizabeth Heimbach

 (BCP—Book of Common Prayer, H-Hymnal 1982)

In the name of Christ, we welcome you to this Church. May those who sorrow find comfort; the weary, rest; the unhappy, joy; the troubled, peace; the stranger, friends; and to all the sense of God’s Presence in this holy place.

The Tolling of the Bell

Prelude

Officiant: Light and peace, in Jesus Christ our Lord.

People: Thanks be to God.

Officiant: Arise, shine; for your light has come,
And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples;
But the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will appear over you.
Nations shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your dawn. (Isaiah 60:1-3)

Officiant: Let us pray.

Almighty God, we give you
thanks for surrounding us, as daylight fades,
with the brightness of the vesper light; and we implore you of your
great mercy that, as you enfold us with the radiance of this light, so you
would shine into our hearts the brightness of your Holy Spirit; through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate
Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth
in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
