What is the Village Harvest? One of the results of our work with Sally O’Brien is a new food ministry called Village Harvest. The goal is to distribute food, including fresh produce, with the help of the Northern Neck Food Bank, to the people in this part of Caroline County on the third Wednesday of each month. Forty-four people have signed up for this distribution. November’s distribution will also include canned soup and Kleenex, which we are collecting during the month of October.
October is Soup Month! Please bring canned soup on any Sunday this month. We will distribute this soup as part of our November Village Harvest distribution. We also need boxes of Kleenex and paper grocery bags for this distribution.
Next Sunday is Pledge Card Sunday. Our treasurer, Clarence Kunstmann, will be handing out pledge cards next Sunday. Please give your pledge for God’s work in the world through St Peter’s some prayerful thought. Your pledge will help the Vestry determine next year’s budget
All Saint’s Day Service is Nov 2. Email Catherine (stpetersrev@gmail.com ) by Monday, Oct. 27 with the names of those who have died in the past year that you would like to have remembered.

“Disturb us, Lord” – a prayer by Francis Drake
Disturb us, Lord, when We are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, Lord, when With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wider seas
Where storms will show your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.
