We welcome you to St Peter’s.  Our hope is that you will find God’s love present with you in this place and that you will return here often to worship.

Today we are celebrating the baptism of Holly Olivia Davis, daughter of Johnathan and Odessa Davis, and granddaughter of Johnny and Cookie Davis.  As our newest member of St Peter’s, she will receive a  cross made from original timbers of the church, handmade by Helmut Linne von Berg.

We thank Helmut Linne von Berg and Marilyn Newman for sharing their musical talents with us today.

Birthday this week:  Kelsey Sheward, April 14th.

Alleluia!  Welcome back the alleluia!  Alleluia comes to us from the Hebrew language, and it means “Praise Yahweh.”  Traditionally it has been understood as the chief term of praise of the choirs of angels as they worship around the throne of God.  When we say Alleluia, we remind ourselves that  the Kingdom of Heaven has drawn near as we gather to  worship and to praise God with joy!

The funeral for Lester Samuels, father of Andrea Pogue,  and husband of Myrtle Samuels, will be held this coming Saturday, April 14, at 11AM in Bowling Green at Storke’s, followed by a reception at the Pogue’s home.

Today’s  loose offering goes to Catherine’s discretionary fund, which she uses to help people in need in this area.

Christian education resumes on April 15.  The adults will begin a three week study of “Islam: Beyond the headlines.”  Topics will include the beliefs of Islam, Islam’s role in America and Islam’s role in the world.

Lay Eucharistic Visitor and Acolyte Training, April 22 after the 11am service.

Are you interested in knowing more about the Episcopal Church, and possibly becoming an “official” member of this congregation?    If so, please let Catherine know of your interest.   We will have a series of classes during May and June. Bishop Gulick will visit us on Sunday, June 17th, 2012 at our 11AM service.

Three Marys at the Tomb

As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, ‘Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here.’” – Mark 16:5-6
