Village Harvest, 2014

The cost of food continues to rise and knowing that some of our Port Royal community might find it difficult to keep food on the table, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church wants to help.

A new food ministry,  “Village Harvest” will provide seasonal fresh produce once a month along with other  food and other supplies.  As we embark on this venture, it is our hope that we can grow it to help meet the specific needs of the community we serve.

Persons who have signed up by November 1 would come to St. Peter’s Parish House, 823 Water Street (the two story building in the back of the church) and pick up their package.

The first pick-up would be on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 between 4:30 PM-5:30 PM and continuing the third Wednesday of each month thereafter.

Right now we are collecting soup and Kleenex. We plan to include a recipe that will be helpful in preparing the fresh produce that we distribute. We need recipes for broccoli, kale and collards. If you have a recipe for any of these vegetables that you’d like to share, please let Catherine know this week! (540) 809-7489
