Evening ECW Meeting June 13, 2011
Evening ECW Meeting
June 13, 2011
Present: Terri Harrison, Elizabeth Heimbach, Catherine Hicks
We met outside because the weather was so cool and pleasant! We opened with a reading from Matthew 25.
Old business:
We talked about the June community dinner. It was great to have so many people including the men of St. Peter’s involved. Because this first dinner was a success, we hope to have another dinner on August 27. Catherine suggested that we collect school supplies to give away since this date will be close to the time school starts. Terri said that we could publicize the date by distributing flyers to all the houses in the village.
New business:
Fred Camp:
From July 5-8, a group of 10 teenagers and adults will be working in Port Royal to build a ramp for a resident who needs help getting in and out of her house. The address is Lillian Holliday, 26139 Townfield Drive, 804-742-5219.
The group needs lunches. The lunch should include 2 sandwiches, fruit, chips, a sweet treat, and water or other drink. Catherine received $101 for the discretionary fund last Sunday, and we can use that money. We agreed to take turns preparing the lunches and taking them to the workers. Betty Kuntsmann: Tuesday, July 5
Elizabeth Heimbach: Wednesday, July 6
Catherine Hicks: Thursday, July 7
Terri Harrison: Friday, July 8
Mittens and mufflers:
We talked about the idea of collecting school clothes instead of winter mittens and scarves. We thought we might be able to combine this with the August community dinner. We agreed to talk more about the idea at our July meeting.
Water at the monthly food pantry distribution:
Catherine mentioned that it is very hot for everyone waiting in line outside the fire house for the first Wednesday visit of the food pantry truck. Terri is going to ask Bill Carpenter if the building can be unlocked so people could go inside to wait. We talked about the possibility of having cold water available.
Terri will lead our next meeting on Monday, July 11.
