The Evening ECW met for the second time at 7:00 on Monday, May 2. Linda Beck, Carolyn Duke, Cindy Fields, Elizabeth Heimbach were present.
The meeting opened with the Rattling of the Penny Jar and the Lord’s Prayer.
Barbara Wisdom gave a report on the wonderful cookbook her committee is preparing as part of St. Peter’s 175th anniversary celebration. The committee has collected more than 350 recipes. They are now entering each recipe in the format required by the publisher. The books will be sold for $12 each, and 60 copies have already been pre-ordered.
Linda Beck made a motion seconded by Cindy Fields to accept the minutes from the March 22 meeting.
The group agreed to delay the election of officers until the next meeting when more people will be present.
We discussed our first project, the Community Dinner on June 4. We agreed on a menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad (no mayonnaise), watermelon, brownies, lemonade. We will sign up for shopping, set up, and clean up at our next meeting. We also agreed
- to put up flyers at Horne’s, the library, the post office, and the market on Route 17 (Elizabeth)
- to ask Cookie about bartering with Kermit’s fruit stand for watermelon
- to ask the vestry for $200 (Linda and Elizabeth)
- to ask about using the fire house if there is rain (Phyllis Sue)
- to see what the new men’s group might do to help (Linda) [See Men's meeting May 7, 2011]
- to have balloons and a few activities for children (Cindy)
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, May 24.
We closed with the Prayer of the Thousandfold
Almighty God, our heavenly Father, Who with Thy Son Jesus Christ hast given unto us all things in heaven and earth, we beseech Thee to make us a thousandfold more useful to Thee than ever before, so that Thy power and blessing may flow through us to multitudes of others, who are in need and also make us willing and loving servants of Thine to Thy honor and glory, for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.
