PUBLIC WORSHIP

Life in the modern world can be very full, and we often find it easy to excuse ourselves from our obligation to pray with other members of the Body of Christ on Sunday.  During Lent each of us should allow only serious impediments to prevent us from attending the Eucharist and making our Communion.

In addition, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday should be considered days of obligation.

There could be, according to the wishes and dedication of the parish, a weekday service or services, during Lent.  It is not obligatory to attend but, if they are offered, may find them helpful in their spiritual discipline during this important time of reflection and dedication.

Easter “Triduum”

This Latin phrase refers to the three sacred days at the conclusion of the Holy Week:  Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter.  Making a special effort to share in the worship of the Church on each of these days can help bring us much closer to God.  The Watch before the Blessed Sacrament, which follows Eucharist on Maundy Thursday, offers a special time for meditation and reflection in the presence of God.  ON Good Friday we share in our Lord’s passion and on Easter we celebrate the joy of His Resurrection.

MY INTERCESSIONS

ACCEPT, O LORD, my prayer on behalf of these your servants.  Grant them in this life the desires of their hearts as may be most expedient for them, and in the world to come, life everlasting; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  Amen.
