Evening ECW Meeting

Oct. 15, 2012

Present: Mary Ann Betchy, Elizabeth Heimbach, Catherine Hicks, Andrea Pogue, Barbara Wisdom

Absent: Linda Beck, Carolyn Duke, Cindy Fields, Terri Harrison

Phyllis Carpenter has decided to attend the daytime ECW.

Barbara Wisdom opened the meeting with a prayer.

Rector’s Report:

Catherine said that September and October have been busy, She mentioned Gospel on the Rivah on September 15 and the Evensong service at Okenbrau on September 30, plus the blessing of the pets on October 4, and the Acolyte Festival at the Washington Cathedral on October 6. Catherine will be away October 22- November 2.

Old Business:

  • St. Mary’s Labyrinth ECW trip this Thursday, October 18: meet at the church at 9:45
  • Bowling Green Harvest Festival, October 20, 9:00-4:00; baked goods and workers are needed.
  • (POSTPONED) Community Dinner, November 3 from 5:00-7:00; Barbara and Mary Ann are making soup; Cindy is doing the shopping. There are some paper goods in Catherine’s office. Elizabeth will put up several flyers. We would like to continue the dinners but feel that we are such a small a group that we need help, perhaps from the daytime ECW, the ECM, or perhaps the other churches in town.

New Business:

  • Andrea gave us information about the GED program. The materials are reasonably priced, and we want to see how many people are interested. We will put out a signup sheet at the community dinner and in the library. Catherine will then make a flyer for an informational meeting.
  • Barbara will talk to Cindy about purchasing skid proof socks for the nursing home residents as a Christmas project.
  • We will also help with preparing bags of candy (10 pieces of hard candy per bag) for the prison ministry. We will ask for donations of individually wrapped hard candy from the congregation, and the children can help assemble the bags with a Bible verse.

Our next meeting will be on November 26. Catherine closed the meeting with a prayer.
