Minutes of the ECW meeting of 21 September 2011

The meeting opened with the rattling of the Penny Jar followed by the reading of our Mission Statement  Marion Mahoney read “Disturb us Lord” taken from United in Prayer handbook.

Betty Kunstmann, Secretary, read the Minutes from 18 May 2011.  They were approved.  (There were no formal meetings for June, July and August.)

Crystal Pannell, Treasurer, reported a balance of $3169.14.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

*Marion announced that the annual meeting for ECW and UTO will be held Annandale Virginia at St. Alban’s Church on Tuesday the 25th of October.  Registration should be in by the 11th of October.

RECTOR’S REPORT:


*Catherine reported that she and the Vestry have decided to hold an extra service on the fourth Sunday of September, October, and November.  So in addition to Morning Prayer at 11 AM there will also be a Eucharist at 9 AM.

ALTAR GUILD:


*Crystal reported there will be an extra large wafer which can serve up to 24 placed on the altar.  The gluten free wafers are kept under the altar.

*She asked that we be very careful extinguishing the candles so no wax is dropped on the Fair Linen.  It is very hard to clean.

OLD BUSINESS:


Barbara Wisdom gave us an update on cook book sales.  160 have been sold for $1804.00

Our expenses have been $1835.00 for the original order plus $350.00 to pay necessary revisions.  This adds up to $2185.00 total expense.  We need to sell 32 more books to break even.

Cookie Davis presented Barbara to acknowledge all her work a wooden plaque with “WISDOM” printed in large letters on it.

*Cookie and Eunice reported on preparations for Auction and Fall Gathering Hoedown.  We will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes given out for best costumes.

*The food will be:  Stanley’s famous grilled chicken, Barbara’s wonderful macaroni and cheese, green beans and ham, and green salad among other things.

*The auction will have an original painting by Marion,  Phyllis Sue Carpenter will be asked to donate a dinner for 6 to 8 people,  will try to have baskets with like articles for the kitchen or bathroom, will ask Buster’s and Nino’s to donate gift certificates

*It was decided not to rent a portajohn but rather to use the golf cart for trips to the main house.

*Everyone is encouraged to sell tickets.

Other OLD BUSINESS: 

*The Bowling Green Harvest Festival will be held the 15th of October from 9 AM to 4 PM rain or shine.  We are asked to donate baked goods, and jewelry to be sold along with St. Peter’s cook book.  We need volunteers to man the booth.  Cookie will handle the jewelry and Barbara the Cook books.  Eunice will have a bank of $200.

NEW BUSINESS:

*The evening ECW would like to have a joint meeting with the afternoon ECW.  Maybe it could be held in January.

*The evening ECW will host another community dinner on the 12th of November.  They are serving spaghetti, salad, bread, drinks and cupcakes.  They will be collecting gloves, hats, scarves for people in need.

*Cookie requested that we consider to scholarship for a child in the Dominican Republic.  It was voted to send $200.00.

*Barbara spoke to us about the book to be published by “Heritage of Caroline County, Virginia – 2012”.  They are looking for anyone who would like to share their pictures, antidotes etc of this area that could be included in the book

The Closing Prayer was said by everyone followed by fellowship and chocolate cake provided by our hostess, Crystal.
