Minutes of ECW Meeting 20 April 2011

Betty Kunstmann, Secretary, read the Minutes of the March meeting and they were approved.

Crystal Pannell, Treasurer, reported a balance of $3035.35 and we bought a new Pascal Candle.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

  • Marion Mahoney reported: The new evening ECW has decided to support a basket ministry, to hold a free community dinner.  The first one will be the 4th of June and they will have a mitten and hat collection in the fall.
  • Marion reported on the inspiring Retreat that she, Eunice, Ruth and Cookie attended at the Church of the Messiah. 
  • The Doctors without Borders mission is asking for a donation.  We approved $200.
  • Marion bought up the possibility of listing Tiera and Cheyene in the Book of Life and we then approved $25 each.
  • Marion reminded us of the Spring Open Board meeting to be held at Christ Church on the 19th of May.  Reservations should be in by 9 May.
  • A letter was received from St. Andrews asking for an additional donation.

RECTOR’S REPORT:

  • Catherine reported that the attendance for the early morning Lenten Service was very well attended
  • She reported that there will be a church service every night at 7 o’clock Wednesday through Saturday this week in preparation for Easter Day.
  • Catherine complimented the choir for the wonderful music we have enjoyed.

ALTAR GUILD:

Crystal Pannell requested that no one clean the brass, but using the special brass polishing cloth is fine.

OLD BUSINESS:

  • Marion said she has spoken to the hostess at Amy’s restaurant to insure enough seating for lunch after our tour of Belmont on 16th of June.
  • Barbara Wisdom the head of the cook book committee gave an update on the progress.  She showed how the book will look and how it will be set up.  There will be photos of the church and members.  We are ordering 300 copies and they will be sold for $12 each.
  • She also reminded us that we still need recipes and they need to be turned in to her by Easter Sunday, but this can be extended by up to a week if necessary.
  • The Silent Auction is scheduled for 29 October.  Johnny Davis has very kindly let us use his “barn”.
  • Steve Price and Clarence Kunstmann are still working on acquiring a new water heater for the Sacristy.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Vivian McDonald suggested a fund raiser using Mimi’s Café who will give us 15% of the receipts for a single evening. This would have to be done on a Tuesday.  We decided to find out if it can be done on either the 28th of June or the 30th of August.
  • Bowling Green is holding a community yard sale which will start early on the 11th of June.  A.P. Hill Army Base if going to have an Open House on the same day.  The Base will open at 2 PM.  There will be Twilight Tattoo at 6 PM.
  • The Kitchen Shower will be held on the 1st of May after coffee hour.  A gift registry has been set up at Target to list the different items needed in the kitchen.
