ECM at Hornes May 12, 2012

On May 12th, the Episcopal Men’s Group met at Horne’s for their monthly meeting. There were eleven men attending and Mike Newmen led the Devotional and discussion on a reading from the Gospel of John. The passage he presented was “ I am the way, the truth, and the light; no one goes to the Father except through Me”. It provoked a good and profound discussion with many asking questions regarding how individuals living before Christ were able to access Heaven, or whether those individuals not having an opportunity to be brought into the Christian faith were excluded as well.

After the devotional and during breakfast, there was some discussion about the Muslim faith and those practicing it here in America. Many had heard Ben Hicks’ presentations and they resolved many questions, but there were still some concerns. On a separate subject, the issue of life after death was brought up.  Three examples were presented of a family member experiencing death and being resuscitated.  Each description had very similar experiences and all were quite pleasant.

As the one year Anniversary of the ECM is coming up soon, there were some plans and ideas to celebrate the occasion presented by David Beck which included a tentative date for dinner, Saturday, July 14th.  David also suggested we hold the event at Chez Beck, with an option of using the Reynolds Pavilion. Final plans will be finalized at our June 9th meeting.

The meeting was closed at 9:55am with the Lord’s Prayer.
